Book Talk

Hello! I know it’s late for me to post this February 2022 wrap-up, but it is better late than never, right? Hehe. Just kidding. Adulting got in the way last March, that’s why I haven’t posted my February 2022 book wrap-up. So, here is my February 2022 book wrap-up or the books I read for February!

  1. Sincerely Carter by Whitney G.

Rating: ★★★★☆

Date finished: February 7, 2022

My Goodreads short review:

– BFF to lovers! Sign me up!

– Their chemistry was undeniably irresistible

– The characters Carter and Arizona were lovable. 🙂

Things I didn’t like:

– The story progresses too fast starting from 50% of the book. I just want to prolong their “banter” and “denials” about each other. Hehe.

Overall, it is a good book and love story. I liked it! 🙂

  1. Sincerely Arizona by Whitney G.

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Date finished: February 7, 2022

  1. Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao

Rating: ★★★★☆

Date finished: February 7, 2022

My Goodreads short review: This was my second time reading Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao, and it was still an unputdownable read for me. The story was splendid and the characters especially Xifeng were remarkable. I have a thing for anti-hero stories because there was something you want to know in their lives before they became “evil”.

I believe that they were good too, but there were just incidents that made them transition into something they are today.

  1. Forget you, Ethan by Whitney G.

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Date finished: February 14, 2022

My Goodreads short review: In the second book of Sincerely Yours, I have mixed thoughts about it. I like it, but not the way I liked “Sincerely, Carter”. There were times that I got bored and skimmed some of the conversations between Ethan and Rachel. I liked the concept of the story – Enemies to lovers, but it’s just feeling too fast phase for each of the characters that I haven’t noticed any character development in them.

I hope there was at least a slow-burn romance between them, and the fact that I am not convinced of their “annoyance” with each other.

Overall, it was still okay for me.

  1. Forget You, Rachel by Whitney G.

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Date finished: February 14, 2022

  1. A Spindle Splintered by Alix E. Harrow

Rating: ★★☆☆☆

Date finished: February 15, 2022

My Goodreads short review: A Spindle Splintered by Alix E. Harrow was not meant for me. I got bored reading it, and I skimmed most of the pages and conversations just to get done with it. Though the concept of the story was okay – a time-traveling kind of thing to the world of “Sleeping Beauty”, and meeting different versions of it, in my opinion, it needs to build up more on the character development and world-building.

  1. Where the Forest Meets the Stars by Glendy Vanderah

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Date finished: February 24, 2022

My Goodreads short review: I have mixed feelings about “Where the Forest Meets the Stars” by Glendy Vanderah – I liked it but not I will not re-read this again kind of thing. Though I love the concept or the story, it became dragging for me when (view spoiler). I didn’t connect well with the characters; they were not bad though but my feelings for them were just neutral. The story was okay, but it is not that remarkable to me.

  1. Tin Man by Sarah Winman

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Date finished: February 27, 2022

My Goodreads short review: Don’t blame me, and I don’t know if I’m the only one – I have trouble grasping the way the author writes the story, but no doubt that it was good. I will be honest with myself, some of the parts of the story bore me, and I skipped some of the pages because the narration was not really for me. I’m sorry. 🙁

Though I will still list some of the things I liked in the plot:

    1. They love Vincent Van Gogh!
    2. Childhood best friends to ALMOST lovers.
    3. I like Michael’s character in the story. A mysterious yet adventurous character.
